The Leaves Poem

I LOVE THOSE LEAVES

From the trees

they fall

Bringing so much color

and memories of days

When I was a kid

I walked in the leaves

Until I learned to dance

More than love

I love the leaves

They make me feel so free

They MUST be alive

They come from a tree

Down I go on my back

Into the leaves, the leaves

the leaves

Just me and the leaves alone

Dancing

In the leaves

I save one for my book

My pages surrounded it

Now the words are brightly lit

I’ve got so many more

Where will they fit

I guess around me I’ll have to look

For I love the leaves

Let’s go dancing in the leaves!

The leaves, the leaves!

Standing in a great big pile

For miles the leaves they’re

Baskets of leaves

Bushels, racks, barrels of leaves

Make me love them crunch under my feet

God, that’s neat

Leaves , leaves, leaves—-

Dance, dance, dance!

Raise my arms,  bend my knees

Down and down

Bunch of leaves

Hug those leaves

I love those leaves!
